Telephone No.9160 Tom sends Annie a kiss Chicago Sept 8th 1889 98 South Green Street Chicago Ill [Illinois?] Dear Annie You will think I am a poor dependence but I am just as unsettled as ever I am here in Chicago keeping house all alone, Will was out of work for nearly one month when he through some friends in the 2nd baptist church got a possition [position?] to go 365 miles south of here to a place called Cairo in the southern part of Ill [Illinois?] he gets [$15?] a week for to start with on the promise of more if he suits them he is gone 3 weeks tomorrow morning & I am alone with my babies It is kind of lonesome without Will but it is best to wait a little while & make sure his position is permanent before going to the expense of moveing [moving?] although the way we live now paying a high rent in the city it takes almost all he makes to keep us & get enough ahead to move Dear friend you dont know how much I missed you & I would have written before but I lost your letter & did not know how to address you I wrote to Mrs Jackson & asked her for it but received no reply I wonder why she did not write Maybe she thought I was slow in writting [writing?] I hope no one has tried to prejudice her against me for I would be sorry to lose her friendship I will write to her again in a day or so. How do you like the asylum I hope better than at first if you ask God to help & sustain you [through?] your many trials he will do it Dear Annie you cannot conceive how God has answered my Prayers I have seen it so often you know we have my brother-in-law Peter here & he was getting my husband off to gamble again but you see God has brought it about that we go by ourselves away from him. I want to keep all evil influences away from my boys as much as I can & Heaven helping me bring them up in a right way haveing [having?] their example in their parents. The children are growing big baby can walk all over pushing a chair & is as pretty as can be I wish you could see them I must close hoping this will find you I cannot move for two week [weeks?] at the earliest if you write soon I shall get it & will reply at once Give my love to belle & Mrs Jackson & all the other friends when you see them & believe me ever your true friend A M Faul |
