| Transcript | From: Patrick FitzGerald, Shanbally, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, 22 April 1829. To: his daughter, Mary FitzGerald. Addressed: Mary FitzGerald, at Mrs. Robert Dunns, Quebec. No postal marks. Long cream paper, folded, creased, torn, fragile & in very poor condition. Sealed with red sealing wax. Shanbally, April 22d 1829. Dear Daughter. I take the opportunity of writing by Mr Mahony who is going direct to Quebec previous to this some Time in the month of February last by a man from Liverpool to have a letter dropt [dropped?] in that post office which I hope you have received before this [writing?]. your letter of the 24th october which was rather unpleasant on account of your bad success at that quarter of the globe as you say that country is so indifferent for you to live in if you thought well of it I believe Anne Murphy would Send for you from Boston if she had known what part of America you were in as she was told that you were in some part of it. I dont know is there any Communication between that place with united States you can address anne Murphy by writing to Mr. Peter Prendergast Mason Quincy Railway Boston. you can enquire in Quebec the way the post or Mail is conveyed from that quarter to the united States. I think it unnecessary to mention to you about any deaths which occurrd [occurred?] Since you left the Country as it would tend more to grief than comfort. All our family are well Mr. O'Neill' family are well and John Mahoney' family are very well but the Shealy's [or Sheahy?] father and Mother are very jealous & angry to their Sons for not writing. You ought to write as often as you could for be sure your letters would not be neglected. nor neither I am sure your Uncle did not write nor did Darby Buckley a Scroll Since he left Ireland, therefore do you Write immediately and as often as you think well of You shall find they will be releasd [released?] and answered. your mother would be glad to know how your aunt is & Whats living of her little family We would be all glad to hear from Darby Buckley & his family Anne Murphy Cousins intend going to Boston this season upon very great encouragement and if you should change your mind farther We would write to Anne Concerning you but Write to us as quick as Possible and Write likewise to Anne yourself as Soon as you can find out the way that the mail is Conveyed Dont be astray of the address Mr. Peter Prendergast Mason Quincy Railway Boston All the neighbours together with your inquiring friends of ours [send?] their best respects with ours to you & hope we shall all hear some better account from you all in your next letter and so We all join & remain yours respectively from your father Patrick FitzGerald |
