Addressed to Thomas Gallagher, Clarmont [Clermont?]
County, Branch Hill Post Office, Ohio

New York May 8th 1849

Dear broher [brother?]
I take the opportunity of writing to you
that we are all well hoping to find you in the same. We
left home on the 13th of March and arrived here on the 7th
of May. Nancy, Manaseh, and John Gery we were with Sally
and determined to stay here until we get an answer from
you. Employ appears to be dull here. We rote [wrote?] to
Denis Gery before we left Derry and allowed them to write
to Catherine that we might see her but they do not know
where she is. She rote [wrote?] to John and got no answer
and then rote [wrote?] to you and got no answer either

I want you to write as soon as possible.

John Gery has got plenty of friends in New York.

No more at present but remains your affectionate brother
to death
Manaseh Gallagher
