Dear sister
I [write?] to let you know that I recd
[received?] your letter on the 3rd of March. I am sorry
for George having bad health. You talk of renting your
place and going to Washington. I think you are better
off as you are. You have your own house and firing, and
what you can't crop try it on shares with Manus or some
other.

So enclosed in this you will find an order for three
Pound Sterling which I send to you. So I expect that the
Post Master or your Priest will get it to you. I could
find no other way of sending it you. As soon as you get
cash for it, rite [write?] and let me know. If you do
not get it save the ticket and return it to me.

So far Dear Sister, I and sister Mary is well. Brother
Patrick, wife and family are well. I cannot boast of the
rest as Brother Hugh's 3rd daughter has the fever. Mary is
up and fit to take care of the rest. Sister Elenor's
[Eleanor?] daughter Hannah is lying with the fever, and
Hugh Gery fell out with his wife and made off for New
York and left his old mother.

So I send my best respects to all my brothers and sisters,
husbands and families. To Jean Gery, husband and family and
to Martin Fitzpatrick, wife and family. Let him know that I
am well and I remember well the time he rode his charly horse
the days for me to get me the priest. Brother Patrick rec'd
[received?] Sister Nancy's letter. Let your daughter know
that this present is in the regard of the dollar she gave to
mee [me?] when I was leaving there and the use of it since.

So no more but of your brother
Thomas Gallaugher [Gallagher?]

Notes: The reference to "Washington" is believed to be the
town of Washington, Indiana.
