Dear Brother i send you these few lines to let you
know that i am in good health thanks be to god for
it hopeing [hoping?] that you are all enjoying the
same blessing. the reason of me not writing sooner i
have been living far from any post Office. i have not
been living in California these last two years i have
been in the state of Oregon i came here to this place
about three months ago after coming about six hundred
miles about four hundred by land and two by water i
am working at mining i get four dollars and a half per
day and i can board my self for about five dollars per
week. i have wrote no letters these last four years
nor i have got none from any of my friends i send
my best respects to you and all your family please
when you write let me know how my mother is getting
along or if she is still living and all the rest of
my Brothers how the [they?] are doing i have the
intention of writing to Malcom [Malcolm ?] soon and
also to brother William i send my respects to all my
friends out in the county down Dear Abel when you
write let me know how you are getting along this long
time and all the perticulars [particulars?] of the
country i need say no more i remain your affectionate
