| Transcript | Marshall Marin Co Nov 15th 1899 Dear brother Sam I am sure you will be surprised At getting a letter from me. I received a letter a short time ago and the [they?] told me you had been in Markethill factory but that you did not stay a very long time. So I thought I would write to you and see if you would not like to come out here. I think it would be the best thing you could do I would like you would start in January if you think of coming I would get you a job of milking here I like this place to work. I always liked milking and I like the country well And I have not regretted coming out here I have often heard of people being home sick but I have not got the disease yet, if you come there is no need for you bringing a whole lot of shirts and stuff for you can buy them as cheap here as you can at home. If you come you ask Uncle Hugh for the loan of twenty pounds or, whatever it takes to pay your passage and make you ready And if you come and get the loan of the money write and tell me the amount you get and I will send it to him. I could send the money to bring you out myself but you would not have time to get a letter and the money; for I would like you to start not latter [later?] than the fifteenth or the twentyth [twentieth?] of January so you would get learned to milk before we would go out of the barn when we go outside every one has his own string of cows to milk, their [there?] is no use for you to bring a tea pot or tea, or coffee, along with you you can bring some cheese, and canned beef and a few little things to eat on the train you can get a meal some times when the train stops & you can buy bread and things along the way. Now you make up your mind and let me know if you will come and I will get William Mitchell to keep you a job, then you and I would be hear [here?] together, and you would have a chance to make some money for yourself and you can send some home as I did |
