My Dear Brother
I have just got
word by way of Lawton that your dear
wife has been called home permit me
to tend you our deepest sympathy in
your bereavement I feel doubly glad
now that I had the honor of her [acquaintance?]
her mind was so bright and clear
and she so cheerful notwithstanding
her long affliction. I often think
of the pleasant hours conversation I
was permitted to hold with her
especially on Sabbath afternoons:
and now she is gone to that prepared
place where suffering and sorrow are
excluded and we will have to bear
the burden a little longer
as regards our selves my wife is
about the same as when I last wrote
she has suffered a great deal of
excruciating torture we still keep
hoping the worst is past we came
to Shawnee March 10 and if she gets
a little stronger so that she can stand
the fatigue of railroad travel when
the heat gets oppresive [oppressive?] we will return
north to Lawrence and from there up to
Northern Nebraska and stay during the
intense heat and come back in Septemb [September?]
mail addressed to me here care H B Ch[?]
or at Lawton care of K [?]elding or to Lawre--- [Lawrence?]
care of John will be forwarded to me
where ever I may be mean time we
will both have to be considerable bette- [better?]
before we travel John talks some
of taking his family a trip to Europ [Europe?]
this summer he is not sure yet wheth-- [whether?]
he can leave his business 60 days or not
at all events he would not start before
July 1 as schools will not close untill [until?] June 1- [15?]

am tired writing must stop for
the present your loving Brother A [Andrew?] Greenlees
