Dear Brother
I am in trouble
will you help me. you are aware
when I found my health giving
way in the foundry I left
it suddenly I could not have
done so only for a dear friend
who has been more than Brother
to me. I had a house and lot
in Ottawa but no money all
I had was in it. Consequently
I was tied in the foundry unless
I could raise money to buy
stock and tools to start with
this brother I speak of proffered
me assistance by endorsing me
he done so, and was able by his
assistance to make a good start
both of us expecting before the
notes matured that I would
be able to dispose of my property
and meet them, which I could
have done easily but times are
dull and money scarce so that
there is no prospect of selling
at least for another year
it took about 200 pounds st------ [sterling?] to start
me of course I did not expect
to clear that amount in one year
but I can meet the half of it
now the question is will you lend
me 100 pounds for one or two years
at eight per cent if you are
afraid of your Brothers word or his
note, I cant help it. I can give
you security if you wish it.
I have stated my case as clearly
as I can will you help me out
of my present pinch
the man I borrowed from
will push if I cant raise it he has
no mercy,
there is another matter I wish
to speak of, you did not mention
how Father disposed of his effects
whether he made a will or how
he wished his money to be divided

#PAGE 2
I hope you will gratify me enough
to let me know the particulars
I may have some legal rights
their [there?] if I have I wish to know
it and if I have not I also wish
to know it please reply
promply and believe me your
Brother very affectionately
Andrew
