TranscriptIt gave me much concern that my
being abroad in the Counteys [Counties?] of Donegall & Sligo
prevented me the honour of paying my dutiful respects to you when last
at Hillsborough. I did not know of your being there until
at Colerain [Coleraine?] on my return & [hear?] here from Mr
Thompson of your Departure.
I sincerely hope this will meet you & Lord Tilwarlin
safe arrived in London, also that Lady Hillsborough is
well, to both whom I presume to tender my most respectful
compts.[compliments?]
Having a considerable property at New York & Mr
Young under whose care it was, having from Depression of
Mind Lost his Reason, I had to Dispatch my son John
thither in June last, he arrived there the 6 of Sept. I have
just received a Letter from him dated the 17 Ulto [Ultimo?], that
mentions some Difficultys [Difficulties?] in getting matters forwarded,
& that the Countenance of the Commissioners General or
Admiral may prove of Singular Service to him in facilitating
them, which obligeth me to request of your Lordship to
Inclose [enclose?] to him a Letter to each of them as you
Please to render any service he may Inform he has occasion
for, as their form of justice is very different to what it
was in times of Peace & Tranquility.
Your Lordship knows what a Property I had at
Dominico & whether Secured by the Capitulation, or Lost, or if
not how to get Home the Produce I know not, In case you
could give me any Light on so Interesting Points it would
be very kind & Indulgent. I have the honour to be with
[kind?] Regard & Respect.
My Lord
Belfast 28 November 1778 Your Lordships
Most Faithfull [faithful?] and Mo [most?] humble
Thomas Greg.
