| Transcript | [No envelope] [Page 1] 7/11/96 Cavalry Depot Canterbury Kent Dear Uncle Just a few lines to you and my dear Aunt and all my little cousins hoping you are all quite will and hearty as they leave me quite well. Dear Uncle I suppose you were surprised to hear I have joined the army but I always [Page 2] had it in my head if ever I fell out of work I would go for a soldier so I have done it and I am quite contented for what I see army life I like it alright Dear Uncle it is a long time now since I have had the pleasure of speaking to you and all my friends and I dont think it will be long before we [Page 3] see another again but it wont be at Christmas as I will only be able to get seven day [sic] fourteen at the utmost. Dear Uncle I had a letter from cousin Bella Magy [Maggie?] today and was very glad to see they are all well and hearty thanks be to God for that and I also sent them a [Page 4] photo and I would have sent you one the same time only I did not know your address so I send you one now so I hope you will excuse me for not writing before Dear Uncle I have no time to write any more at present as we have a lot to do on saturday getting ready for church parade so I now conclude by bidding you all good bye For the present.
