| Transcript | Brackville, February 3rd 1844 Upper Canada Mr. Thomas Greeves Dear Sir having heard by a letter from home that their [there?] has been a small dividend received by you from Mr. Harringtons Estate for us may I request of you to put it to my Brother Williams credit and he will give me the value of it in [Fine?] [----?] [---?] [--?] he desires me to say will you be kind enough to the [two?] [Shanes?] his and mine to the [--------?] in payment of what he owes them and he regrets that he cannot do more at present for them the last three years have been very trying times in this country the effects of the [---------?] in 1837 and [short?] crops last year I mean 1842 but the last crops have been better and there is a hope that business will revive I hope your health is better than when I left home and that all the family are well, as you have always taken a kind and friendly interest in my welfare I think you will be pleased to hear that my health has been very good since I came to this country and that I have been able to support myself [----------?] of my relations and do not want for any of the comforts of life and have met with some kind friends to advise me of the ways and plans of [doing?] in this strange land and I am more reconciled to remain in it the climate is more healthful and the air clear and [dry?] some times a little cold but with the last two weeks the winter has been very pleasant the ground covered with snow since the latter and of [------?] but not cold the heat of the Summers are more trying on my constitution as he can raise mellons and cucumbers in the open air and grapes without glass covering please accept my best thanks for the [-----?] you taken in [raising?] the money [from?] us and with best wishes for your health and happiness I remain with very sincere regard yours very truly Anna Heather ( written in previous page's margin ) P.S.
