| Transcript | Montreal 1st July 1836 Dear Thomas By J. Irwin I wrote you who left this last Note[?] for Portadown I wrote twice that time and sent it by hand to N. York I expected to have heard from you concerning the amt [amount?] of the last dividend expecting it to be paid before this if you rec'd my letter by Irwin it told you to pay the Balance in your hand of Mrs to his authorized agent, as the purchase of the ground of the houses was to be paid out of the first dividend and that before the payment of the lagatcy [legacy?] I would have wrote you ere this but still expecting to hear from you, I send this by the The Hughs a bark [barque?] that sails from this in a few days for Belfast if you have rec'd the needful you will let me hear from you on [---?] by way of N.Y. [New York?] [-----?] we have had a lazy cold winter, says that the glass stood 35 below Zero now as much the reverse say 100 above Zero in the shade we have had a late Spring but we will have as early a crop as the [they?] have at home all Kinds of vegetables in great plenty at present and a great crop in expectation, my Lord [Gosfead?] our Governor is in this town at present he is not liked by the Brittish [British?] population, as he has formed the french Las [?] his arsenal and a petition is going forward to his Majesty to have him rewarded you will please let Rose Mc Donald know that we are all well and prior to your writing, if she has any thing to say you can in your letter let her say where, her Son Patrick is or if she has heard from him expecting to soon hear from you with best regards to Mrs Grieves [Greeves?] I remain yours My Sincerely Jas [James?] Heather |
