Papers of Prof. E.R.R. Green

[The following letters were sent to Dr. Green by Miss I.
Embleton, secretary to the Ulster-Scot Historical Society,
Chichester Street, Belfast. She received them in connection
with a request for family research from Mr. E.G. Burnside of
Toronto, Canada. The Beatty family concerned were settled in
Corlough, Aghalurcher Parish, County Fermanagh, in the early
18th century.]

Dear Thomas in answer to your kind letter which I received
a month ago I write you these few lines to let yous (sic)
know I am well thank God + also all my aquaintances so
far as I know I had a letter from cousin Anne that is
Tommy's Anne lately they are all well she said that Johnny
was going home soon + that he would call + see me there
is a young lady living here her name is Miss Kerr she has
been home for the last 3 months her father lives in
Elliott's old place she was in father's 2 or 3 times when
she was at home and she says that they are all well she
says that George is very tall + as thin as ever + John +
Noble is verry [very ?] tall too she says that Noble is
coming out here next spring she says that they [their ?]
neighbours are all the same as usual she says that big
George + John + William the three in the one field are
working one in one corner + another in the middle +
the other in the other corner I suppose they are afraid
if they work together they would have to speak to each
other + Uncle John is staying with Uncle Thomas at home
now I have not heard much news from her yet let me know
if Mr Kennedy that is Martha Jane Baxters husband found
yous (sic) out he wrote a letter to me the other day
asking for your address he said that he heard of a
farm of land to be sold out there + he was going to buy
it so I sent him your address on a postcard + told me
[him] that you lived 10 miles out in the country but I
suppose he did not find yous (sic) they [the ?] last
letter I got from home Mother said she wanted you to
send her a letter she said she was very anxious to
hear from you so I think you should write her one.
I have not much more to now (sic) I had a letter from
[Marra ?] the other day she says they are all well
the weather here has been very changable this last

while let me know yous (sic) are getting along with
the chopping of the wood I suppose you are spoiling
some young lady if not it is time you were I think
you had better go home for one + get a large fortune
with her + I think that would pay for all your trouble
no more at present but remains yours truly write soon
again
