Honoured Father
I once more have they [the?] pleasure
of Informing you of my health as well as that
of my family, Thanks be to the giver of all goodness
for his mercy and kindness to me, and
hope in the same allmighty [almighty?] being that
may find yourself and your family enjoying
the same blessing; The allmighty [almighty?] being please
to take my son, which I doated [doted?] much upon has
ocaisanad [occasioned?] me much truble [trouble?] but Gods will must
be done; my daughter Sarah is at a female
accadamy [academy?] 226 miles from me in North Carolina,
I had a letter from her three days ago, it costs me
for her board and tuition & clothes including my
Expences [Expenses?] once a year to visit her 450 dollars.
I Recd [Received?] some time since a most [?]
and abusive letter from my Brother James saying
you had ordered him to give me my last
letter. In case I had a removed to the Southern
Country I should have been no farther from you
than I now am, only that you would have
took shiping [shipping?] to Natches, or New orleans instead
of that of Charleston - In consequence of a lot
amongst our Cotton will not make more last year
by my crop of cotton than (say 1500 dollars instead
of 3000 -) making only thirty bales instead of - at
least 55 - But thank God we make plenty of
of Corn flour Rice and Sweet Potatoes
as well as meat of all kinds of which the
prices are very low, as we make much more
in General than serves us; God allowing [me--y?]
health will be down to Charleston in may when
I Generly [Generally?] stay two weeks, and at which time I
will [remit?] to Belfast some money for you
whoever I may send it to will let you know
Emeadatily [immediately?] in cace [case?] you may be in want borrow
from some friend untill [until?] it arives [arrives?], and in cace [case?]
you have no need of money my desire is that
my Sister Magdelen [Magdalen?] shall Receive the same
for her own benifit [benefit?] or that of her Children.
[?] you were here would take a pride
in suporting [supporting?] you on the best, as long as you might
live, and [then Intomb?] you by the side of your
Namesake and Grandson in a handsom [handsome?] manner
but will not advise as the Voyge [Voyage?] I Expect you
could not survive besides our Climate is sickley [sickly?].
[?] thank you to present my complaments [compliments?]
to my brothers & sisters, as also to all Enquiring friends
and desire you in your prayers to remember us
and am with Every Respect due your loving
and Ever dutifull [dutiful?] Son

Wm [William?] Humphrey
