| Transcript | Birmingham Dec 20th 86 Dear Sister I only received your letter to day But I was very glad of it then I do not think I will pay for the Machine this month unless I have to but I am glad to have the money anyhow I hope you did not inconvenience yourself any if you did I would lose half my pleasure it is so near Christmas I have not much time to do any sewing or to practice on the Machine I know I shall like it it is one of the very best kind and if you go a housekeeping before I do you shall have it as a Wedding present or if neither of us do I can take it to pieces and pack it in a box and take it home with us when you get a new dress let me know and I will see if I cannot make it for you The Ladies aid society were last Wednesday and I had all the cooking so nice you dont know how important I feel I had such a jolly time the biscuits were lovely every one praised them so I could scarce wait on the table and one woman came to me Sunday to know how I made them she said her husband had never eat [eaten?] anything so good but perhaps this will not interest you much and the women were all so busy sewing Caleb wiped the dishes for me [Knox?] Mulligan came in one evening in a hurry he is such a mischief. Is supper ready he says I asked him if he was going sparking so he told them all at supper time about me asking him he said he was going to tell me he was going sparking right here only he was afraid I would blush We can sing some pieces together now pretty well I had a letter from home I am sorry they did not get that parcel you sent mother I wrote after you sent it I mentioned you sending something I did not say what it was I hope she will get the money all right but if you registered that I dont see how it can be lost I am glad you enjoyed that lecture so much I have not heard any of them this year never mind I will enjoy myself in the future I have not heard from Billy Weir in some time he must have had an accident or is moved away somewhere else. There is great talk about Xmas [Christmas?] I do not know whether I shall go to the tree or not Robert is building a hay barn him nor [lib?] has not looked near me same as usual I intend to go over to Johnston's some day soon Why did you not have some photos I suppose Andy will think you are not going to ever give him one I will make that all right with Caleb about the money I wish we could send Grandma something you know she was very good when we came away I will go up to Bgham [Birmingham?] to morrow if all is well and see what I can buy for a present for Mrs Jackson I have been asked to go to so many places I do not know if I shall have all visits before spring is on no sign of a Wedding here yet nor is not likely to be my patience is near all gone I wish I could send you the letter from home you will see some news maybe I shall not write sooner nor Saturday to Mother you let me know as soon as you can if you heard anything from there or if they got the things all right Goodbye Annie This is Thursday Evening I did not get up yesterday it snowed i shall get it mailed to night. |
