TranscriptDear Geo. [George?] Portis Esqr. London Belfast 2d. May 1772
under cover to Sir Geo. [George?] M.

Inclosed [Enclosed?] is a Letter, which after Perusal & Sealing deliver
to Wm. [William?] Talbot - I suppose you have about this Time received
Hoare's Letters wch. [which?] I sent thro' [through?] Sir Geo. [George?]
the 20 April -
Kirkwood, the Drumadarah [Drumadarragh?] Gamekeeper, is gone or about going
to America. The Mountains in that Country are of so great
an Extent, that, if Lord Donegall be resolved on preserving the
Game, one Man appointed to reside at or near Drumadarah [Drumadarragh?]
& another at Ballyboly [Ballyboley?], would best answer the Purpose, & I
think £5 yearly to each would satisfy, or if clever Fellows
could be found to undertake the office of Bailiffs also, it would
be eligible; as £20 yearly to Bailiffs will soon be saved in
preventing arrears. Endeavour to get the Maps of the Town
Parks at least, you had better obtain from Lord Donegall
a Power for Me to act, as otherwise I may sometime or other
get into a Scrape. Many People going to America
The Country in general poor & most of them very Cunning
& artful. J. A. [John Alexander?]
