| Transcript | New Orleans Dec. 27th 1854 Dear Sir I received your letter and was glad to hear you were all well, There is nothing particular going on here at present but dull times and no money to be had. I do not expect to have my business arranged so as to be able to return much before Feby [February?]. I am at private Lodgings and I dont like it much. The weather is pleasant not cold enough for a thick overcoat. I was at Mobile last week and I stood on Deck without any overcoat so you may judge the night was not very cold. Christmas passed off very dull rained all day and part of the night. I passed the evening by going to the [French?] Opera. I hope New Years will be a little pleasanter - I have not yet made up my mind about going into business here but will do so before I return - I had a letter from Father some time ago. They were all well except mother, who was not quite so well as before Maryanne returned - Give my respects to George & Jane and Beck Yours truly A McFeeters |
