| Transcript | FROM: Robt [Robert?] Moore, Portadown, County Armagh, Ireland TO: Joseph Searight, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Portadown May 27 1852 Dear Joseph I have just now [---?] yours but not untill [until?] I had found out my mistake in reference to the Consuls certificate which I now enclose and a corrected Invoice acording [according?] to instructions in Belfast [taking?] the goods at their lowest known value, and have not been required to Swear to it by the Consul Therefore you will have to keep in mind the [Bleaching?] &c &c as well as a profit That would induce me to continue to ship goods to you as uppon [upon?] that point would depend my future proceedings Light goods are improving in markits [markets?] here I would [particularly?] draw your attention to the 3/4 [---?] [Brown?] goods as I have a large lot of them on hands and could make them [Blue?] or Black if you can sell them to advantage. I will now enclose [S--es?] of 3/4 [esde?] [------?] of which I have a Large Stock Say 1000 ps [pounds?] and wd [would?] to get a market for them [Brown?] a [Glutt?] here and [Blue?] [at?] 7 1/2 these are 60 Buds that were selling some time since at far [higer?] [higher?] figures they with what I have already sent will enable you to try your hand and see what could be done. you will have to make alowane [allowance?] for any errors or Blunders that I May Make as it is my first transaction and I have done it very quietly not being disposed to let anyone I Could not ask advice on the Subject you will have to do the best you can and of course the best can do no more I have menshoned [mentioned?] your request to Wm. [William?] Montgomery and he will attend to it in due time I am more afraid of P Mc than of the [Tennant?] [tenant?] in [T. Gen?] but I don't interfere less or more in the Matter as you [Still?] appear to be a favourite with Mr [Patt?]. In the November of 47 I paid John Malcomsin [ Malcolmson?] £60.15.0 over what he [claimed?] as my portion of the old [debt?] leaving [------?] £40 Bill still unpaid which of course will fall equaly [equally?] on us both in case of [------?] not being able to pay it which is not likely and strange to say this is all I know on the Subject though I have often asked Mr [Malcomsin?] [Malcolmson?] how it stands and still got some evasive answer but this I do know that if he & [------?] pays his bill I would have £60 and their interest against you untill [until?] you can conveniently settle it Your funds here are heartily satisified with you [busily?] or rather silence in reference to yourself they say since you went away you have not said wheather [whether?] you were married or single sick or well dead or alive rich or poor we were Glad to hear by Thos [Thomas?] Armstrong that you were indeed quite well well [sic] a looking hell and that you had [admitted?] to take unto your self a role a Role [sic] I hope that it will be a Strait [straight?] one and one that will Keep keep [sic] the steps with you through Life as a Miss Jane would Repair able Very Little Changes have of late Montgomery folks are all well and going a head John is doing very nicely has got the whole of the Overend property from the Turnpike to the bridge @ £1100 [--?] but no word of Matrimony with him yet - Ann [Guire?] has had a severe attack of illness but is getting better all the Mans are quite well - And now I will close As I dont know any thing else I should say hoping Soon to hear from you I am yours Respectfully Robt [Robert?] Moore |
