| Transcript | To: Mr Hugh Donnan Cahard In Care of Mr A Wilson Saintfield Co Down Ireland [postmarked] ALLEGHENY NOV 18 1874 PA [PENNSYLVANIA?][postmarks on back of envelope] DUBLIN - BELFAST A DE [DECEMBER?] 1 74 [1874?] SAINTFIELD B DE [DECEMBER?] [?] 74 [1874?] Allegheny 17th 1874 Dear Sir I write you of [off?] a few lines to let you know that we are all in our usual health hoping thies [these?] few lines will find you all in the same we received your last letter and were glad to hear that you are all in good health and were [we are?] glad to heare [hear?] the news you send us we are getting along as usual still making A little money and living comfortable I have nothing of any importance to write you since I last wrote to you our firm has disolved [dissolved?] partnership there was three partners martin [--lle?] & [------ting?] in the buisness [business?] Martin sold out and has started for himself and the too [two?] others has left liberty st [street?] pittsburgh [Pittsburg?] and is moved to allegheny to thies [this?] old factory The [they?] still had it but had the store in pittsburg for A reatail [retail?] store but I sill [still?] remain with the old firm and drives the same team and has still the same pay and an easer [easier?] job nor [not?] ever but I do not know how long it may last fore [for?] times looks very bad here at present and A good many of our strongest establishments are going down times has still been dull and money scarce since the panic and thier [there?] is a great many will have A hard winter we have had very nice weathr [weather?] this last nine or ten weeks but it is started to rain this night and A great many will be glad to see it for the woods cut in the country are [burning?] in all directions and has done A great deal of damag [damage?] allredy [already?] it has distroyed [destroyed?] A good many little towns and A great deal of property youse [you?] say you think the fires and floods might be A lesson to the people but all that has hapned [happened?] yet has never caused them one thought [markets?] is about the same with us at present as the [they?] are with you I want you to send us word [until?] you write how old James Smith is getting along my Brother Samuel is Boarding with us and Hugh geddis son and A nother [another?] man and that makes [----?] Hugh is at school and is learning very fast and Minney and her mother is running the housekeeping Eliza wants her father and mother some time to send her thier [their?] likness [likeness?] I want you to send me word how William Campbells horse don [done?] with him this season I wrote to [Rebina?] about too [two?] weeks ago when you [st?] with direct to G & C Sandusky 3d ward allegeny [Potamin?] fore [for?] that is where we live now please write son [soon?] and give us all the news you have so good by [goodbye?] yours truly W.
