Dear Sister
with much pleasure
do I sit down to write you
a few lines hoping to find
you all well as it leaves us
at present we had a letter
from Charles Kennedy
we heard that you were well
I thought that you were all
dead or that I would have
heard from you some time
I have three daughters married
Annie, and Mary, and Nellie
Annie lives in Chicago and
Mary lives about 1/2 a mile
from home and Nellie about
4 miles from home
and two girls at home and
one boy Charlie and I want
you to let me know about
your family when you write
I suppose you heard of Dan
O'Boyle being dead I suppose
he is dead about 20 years
Dan's woman lives always in
the same place their land
and ours almost joins there
were four of Dan's children died
and two living a boy and girl
they are both married the boy
lives near his mother Dan's
woman is married about 18
years and has two children
a girl and boy Paddy O'Boyle
is dead about two years
we are always [still?] living on the
same place he kept still
buying more land we have
now 325 acres of land
and we milk 20 cows so
we have still lots of work to
do and keeps about 200
head of sheep I want to
know if you folks still
live on the same place
James McNeil and his
family are well they live
about a mile from us
I want to [know?] if John and Daniel
lives with you yet and I
want to know where John's
Mary's family are and if
the folks that were in
Dromorn are all there yet
the letter that we got mentioned
no one only you and let
me know about the McGaricks
of the Grove how they are all
and my Uncle John's family
how they are James Mc Garick
that was married to Catherine Watt
he died a long time ago
she has one boy a priest he
said mass two or three times
in our chappel [chapel?] they live about
two miles from us we live
one mile from the chappel [chapel?]
and the post office is next
house to us; butter here sells
for a shilling a pound in your
money and pork five dollars a
hundred we had an awful dry
summer the worst we had from
[over?] [---?] [----?] here now be sure
and write to me soon we all send
our best respects to you all hoping
to hear from you soon
