TranscriptNorth Carolina, Mecklinburg County,
Honoured Sir 6th April 1775.
I [found?] your favour of November 12th 1774
With pleasure to hear of the welfare of a family I
entertain a great deal and regard for as I have the honour
to be intimately acquainted with his [Excellency?] your father
and Captain Dobbs when hereof [I?] understand
the inhabitants in No.5 is [are?] extremely rejoiced at
your letting them know you are the proprietors
of that tract and as the apportion you may expect
to meet with here is pretty powerful if they think
they have any footing. Beging [Begging?] your excuse for presuming
to give my opinion I will only propose giving my reasons
which are to this effect as it canot [cannot?] be so reasonably
expected that you can come over in person your
Brother Captain Dobbs may undertake the voiage [voyage?]
as he is well acquainted in the Country and was well
Regarded when in it. I must be of the opinion he would
be of much greater weight and surely answer a much
greater and than any gentleman you could
appoint.
If he comes here I would be very glad to see him
and if there is any thing [anything?] in my power that I can
assist him in I will spare no pains I can serve him
in Sir if you think worth while to write please to
direct to Messrs. Glen and son Merchants in Charles
Town

Sir I am Sir your most
please to give my obedient and very humble
best compliments to Captain Servant
Dobbs.
