TranscriptJuly 7th [1860?]

Dearest the Persia arrived in N.Y. [New York?] Thursday she is the first
vessel that reported having seen you, on the 26th it was the
second day after she left Cork, hope you were not too late on
Friday getting into L.Pool [Liverpool?] to get off that evening, but I fear
you were, & that would derange your plans a little, got a
paper dated 18th from Tilly on Thursday evening after I had posted
mine, she is still saying she will not let you back, but if she
came with you it will be better still. I expect some news by
the Arabia next week. Hope it will be good, Mrs Jas. Lynch
still living but without her reason & if she ever recover her health
it is feared her reason is clean gone which is worse than death,
as it is a living one, all your friends are well as far as I
know except your foster sons whose [?] are deranged L. C. says
by Lucy giving him [?] contrary to his order Alice G. got home
on the 4th in good health. Mrs Glenns party came off very well
except for the dearth of beaux there being not more than 1 or 4
belles. I was not there, 'till after, I had a letter from John
today he said he was going to the country this week & gave no
other news. I will be watching anxiously for news next week, hope
it will be each as I would like to get, are you getting home sick
