ARMAGH 8th Nov 1906

Dear Sir
We have this day had a long letter from a Mr.
Ernest T. Florance Cousellor of Law and Notary Public of
320 St. Charles St. New Orleans. He states that he is
legal adviser of the British Consulate there, and also
Counsel for the Public Administration at New Orleans.
He states that it is part of the duty of such
administration to protect the property there of
persons who have been absent from the State for over
ten years, and who have no representative there if that
property is in danger of being lost and he states that
you have property there which was at one time of little
value and which you appeared to have abandoned on
account of an unjust judgment against you, but that
it has since owing to railway enterprise increased
enormously in value, and as you are more than ten
years absent the administration has taken your
interests up, but he is being thwarted and opposed
by an attorney named J.R. Richardson who professes
to be acting on your authority, but who (Mr. Florance
believes) has no such authority, but may possibly
be trying to obtain a power of attorney from you.
Our correspondent asks us to warn you against
giving any such power to Mr. Richardson or if you
have given such, states it ought to be revoked
without delay, and he advises you to give a Power
to either Mr. Hewes T. Gurley whom you know,
or the British Consul Mr. H. Carew Hunt and he has
sent us a form of power suitable with blank for
the name, which you will require to execute before
the American Consul at Belfast or Derry if there be
one. We have had no correspondence with Mr.
Florance previously but his advice seems sound
and you appear to have a large pecuniary interest
in the property and we are of opinion you should
give that matter your immediate attention.

Yours faithfully,
Joshua Peel & Son.

P.S. We shall of course supply you with the form
of Power should you so desire and also if you desire
it with copy of the letter.
