TranscriptChambersburg 22 October 1787
Dear sister this comes with my kind love and duty to
let you know that I am in a good state of health at
preasent [present?] thanks to God for his great mersies [mercies?] to me and
hopes these will find you and your husband and family
in the like good condition I long waited for a few lines
from you in your own name but from a long Experence [experience?]
of your former tenderness to me I am convinced that it is
not for want of friendship but Rather want of Convenance [Convenience?]
as for particulars I have litle [little?] to write to you but will
Reefer [Refer?] you to my other letter you desired me by
Brother Robert to send you a line or two in Respect
of the Country or your Coming to it but in this I will
Refer you to my other letters also only I supose [suppose?] from
what I understand David will be for Coming here
and I will say nothing in such a Case between
you but that I am Confident you will have time
anuf [enough?] to repent it if you Come if I thought that
was to your advantage to Come here would I had
not have Enoraged [encouraged?] all my friends before this time
when I am here alone without Relations
though I belive [believe?] not without friends I have always
Enjoyed a good state of health since I Came to this
Country and agrees with the Climate verry [very?] well, but
still I greatly Desire the pleasures of the Company
of my friends and Relations again in my Native
Country which would be a great satisfaction to
Me Remember my love in particular to my mother I
Desire you will give your self the trouble of writing a
few lines to me So I Conclude with subscribing
myself your far Distant but loveing [loving?] Brother to Death
