Robt [Robert?] L Porter

Dear Brother
What are you doing about
disposing of your place you said
it was to be tried before
the Commissionar [Commissioner?] did it come
off yet or was the decision
in your favour for I have been
in suspense here to know if
you were coming to this place
or not I thought you would
have required so when you
did not come I had to call
an auction and sell them
and they did not bring so
much as they would have
done last fall after wintering
them but that is no matter
if you can make any good
araingment [arrangement?] there I do not see
why that the Landlord or agent
should object to you selling
to the best advantage which
was always the case in that
neighborhood even he or they do
not want it themselves but
anyhow I would not if in your
place let them hold me if I
wanted to have come where
you can be a man and
not a slave to any under
[--?] not so good as yourself
but clothed with a little
authority here you can do
with your own as you think
proper and you will be as
good as any man if you
act properlyIreland never will be a hapy [happy?]
land to live in for the people
seem to be in antagonism

to one another viz protestant
and Catholick [Catholic?] it is so even
here but worse there than
anywhere else that I know of
now I say bring your Children
into a land of freedom where
you can worship god as you
think proper and no one to
ask you to what church you
belong or to any I have just
done planting corn a few
days ago we had so much
rain that I and other had
to plant it the second time
after been 3 weeks done but we
are now having butiful [beautiful?[ warm
weather and there is hopes
that we will be able to
rais good corn yet though late
we are all well here at present
and I hope this will find you
all there the same Mary Ann
was complaining the last letter
a few days ago that the weather
was getting to [too?] hot for he [her?] for she
is getting very lusty and says she
is afraid she will have dropsy
Sarah and her family is in Boston
and supose [suppose?] Joseph is gone there
too he was with us for 4 or 5
weeks on a visit and broke
a young horse for me I wish
you had come this spring for
it would have saved me from
having to farm any
I will close this hoping you
have got all things settled to you
mind I remain your affectionate
Brother William Porter
