Dublin Castle 5 Sept [September?] 1846

I am directed by the Lord Lieutenant to Acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the 26th Ultimo, representing the great
distress of the in the Inhabitants of the Island of Rathlin in the Barony
of Cary County of Antrim and to acquaint you, in reply, that His
Excellency will consider the Expediency of introducing the provisions of the
Poor Employment act into the District alluded to, for the relief of the
Poor in that locality
