TranscriptMy dear Cousin Willie
I am sorry
to say that I cannot forward
the proceeds of the $5000 N.Y. [New York?] City
stock by this mail as several
delays have occured. A few
days since Messrs King & Duer
notified me that they would
require a power from Dr. [Doctor?] Saunders
to transfer the certificate. So I
went down to see them and
they agreed, upon reading your
instructions, to transfer it and
asked me to get from your
side some sort of approval of
their course. Yesterday they
were to transfer it but this
morning they wrote me that
the books of the City were closed
and the transfer cannot be made
until Nov. 1st. As the stock of
course is negociable [negotiable?] with the
power of Atty [attorney?] attached I tried
to sell it. The broker who offered
103 only offered 102 1/2, money
being more active he said, and
Consequently he could not
give so much. I then saw
two other brokers and they
are to let me know what
they can get for it. There are
no dealings in these stocks at
the Exchange and it is always
troublesome to sell them.
I have nothing new to tell you
excepting that Duer told me that
he was sorry about the year's delay
but that they were merely following
their counsel's advice & were guided
solely by what he said. I hope
Geraldyn will arrive tomorrow. All well
Afftly [Affectionately?] yours
Roland Redmond
