| Transcript | William Young Finaghy Cullybackey Belfast Marine Hotel Ventnor 20 Mch 1877 My dear Willy I have yours of the 14th and 17th last. I have not had anything from Roly since the letter you read. I don't know the meaning of "led [lead?] oxide in chemical Combination". I hope the next letter will not pass through the "office" without your reading it. If the new funded 5% will give the principal back its maturity and 4«% Interest I should say it would be well to invest [May's?] money in it. If land turn up afterwards you can sell out. I think [Alexander?] has no other meaning in his letters to you than calling your attention to such & such land on sale with the hope of you making a satisfactory purchase. As to New York city Bonds on stock I think them first rate, I beleive the Central Park would sell for more than pay the whole debt big as it is, at sametime it is [disgusting?] to [Bond Holding?] to see such wilful [waste?] in the management of the city, and so far there is no appearance of a sessation [cessation?] in the recklessness. the weather is again very [severe?] cold N East winds with bits of snow flying about I don't like- Glad to hear that Jane is so well- Yours faithfully Rowland Redmond |
