My dear Rowland

I wrote you on
Wednesday and yesterday
morning yours to Willy Young
was recd. [received?] and most truly
do I trust Starkes' [opinion?]
of the voyage will turn out
as he expects and that you will
come back a new man it is
most gratifying his expression
that your Lungs are so
sound as his again having
examined them and that
your cough is better, Willy
Young has written to you
about the increase of [Belinda's?]
money above the 2200 [220?] pounds and he
thinks the difference is absolutely
news, but as she no doubt
has Emily [family?] intirely [entierly?] as her object
in these matters, I see no differently
in having two accounts opened
with the Youngs, one for [---------s?]
[emb----ing?] the 2200 pounds and the
other placed to her own Credit
agt. [against?] the Balance at [her?] debit now
with the Youngs, which would leave
a sum to her credit with them
and there one could make up
Whatever would be deficient in
her income to support her houses

having the power in our own hands
to withdraw this sum at any time
we thought proper as in [---'s?] case
Willy went yesterday evening to Port-
rush and comes up today by 1/2
past 1 oclock train and will not
go there again till Monday. Dr.
Kidd was out here yesterday
to see me, he says he thinks I may
discontinue the pautlice [poultice?], but that
I must be most careful not
to make much use of the foot
or allow it to get any knock
or injury for some time or it
would bring on another attack
for he cannot attribute the
swelling to any other cause
than a disposition to Gout. So
I will be most careful, I told
you about the $1000 Credit with
Wm. [William?] Redmond for Robertson & Blacklock
[Blackrock?] and now state particulars as I told
them to Blacklock [Blackrock?], I sent out
word some months ago for Robertson
to draw $300 on Wm. [William?] R Robertson?] on my
account whenever he liked, but he
had not done so when I was in
L'pool [Liverpool?], I then told Blacklock [Blackrock?]
that when he went out to
Charleston, I would increase
the $300 to $1000, on his acct. [account?] &
Robertsons, and that they could
agree between themselves how
the [they?] would draw it either one
of them the whole $1000, and divide
it or both draw sums amounting
in all to the $1000, lent if Robertson
had drawn the $300 before
Blacklock [Blackrock?] went out then
there would only remain 700$
to be drawn for either by one or
both, I think I have made myself
explicit in this matter and you can
explain it to Wm. [William?] or attend to it
yourself in New York if he comes over
and you take charge of his business,
[and he comes over?] [scored out] I will likely

#PAGE 3
have a letter from you before you
start and hope it will tell of
[Emily?] being quite well and
yourself continuing to improve and
I like your other relatives & friends
will be looking forward with
much anxiety to the accounts we
shall be hearing from you on
& after your arrival in New
York until we see you safe
home again,
Ever dear Rowland
Your affectionate Brother
W. L. Redmond

Trunk.
