My Dear Lord
[Drettr?] business is I believe done Ellis
told me he had issued by desire of Mr. Pelham,
then necessary orders - Mr. Pelham sailed for
England last night to stay for three weeks, he
is very unfortunate in the loss of his sister Lady
Sheffield so immediately after the loss of his brother
L.[Lord?] [Patrickson?] I knew sent you all the news of each
nights packets, that respecting [--------?] is however
not credited of a Captain of an American ship lately
arrived in this port says he was one of the last
men he spook [spoke?] to at Philadelphia - no express on
acct [account?] of any kinds from Ld [Lord?] [Bredports?],
I begin to fear the enemy will escape [him?], I wait with
impatience your determination respecting John Watson.
Cook has not as yet done any thing respecting
William Logan succeeding Godfrey in the Invalids
tho' [though?] he constantly promises it both to
Alsan Alexander & to me, indeed he owes it to Logan,
as nothing but his interference prevents Williams succeeding his
father. I am, My Dear Lords,
[Now?] Lords Yr [Your?] Ever
Devoted
Robert Ross.
