| Transcript | Frankford, Pa. [Pennsylvania?] Sept 13th 97 [1897?] My dear Jinty, I did not hear of Uncle Willie death untill [until?] I received your letter. I am very sorry about him although I do not remember him at all, only what mother tell's me. Mother was very sorry to hear it, as she was always very fond of Uncle Willie. I pity Aunt Lilly with such a family and so far away from you all. But is not cousin Willie Lattimore out near them? I remember just a few days before he left Ireland meeting him on my way to the Woodburn School. (He was driving a horse and cart up to his father in-laws) when I asked him for a ride not knowing who he was he took me up in the cart and asked me if I did not know him, imagine my surprise when he told me who he was and then said good by [bye?], Jinty if I had known he was cousin Willie I would of been to [too?] bashful to speak to him for a ride. But I have got over that bad feeling long ago when you have to fight your own way in the world you have to do what they [the?] Americans say have a little nerve. What do you think I have got a Bicycle and can ride but not without a good tumble. I wish you could see your little country cousin on a wheel. I declare you would not know her. Tell Harry hope his wish shall be gratified next summer. Mother says she will help me and I do want to go over next summer awful bad. You wrote in your last "I wish you would tell me when you write whether you are engaged to be #PAGE 2 married, or maybe, by this time are already married". Well let me think - no I am not married as for being engaged - I do not tell tales out of school, that part will keep to next summer if I should see you then I might tell you. Mother joins in sending her love to Uncle & Aunt and you all especially your dear old self Your cousin Sarah |
