Dear Annie
I received
your very welcome letter. I was
afraid you were so long in writing
that I had the wrong address.
Well I am very glad you are
enjoying your self so well
We are pretty well they [the?] folks
all say my colour is improved
so much. We are down at the
shore often I just love the smell
of the sea. I have not been a
bit sick since I came They
want me to stay a year M.
Watson wants me to stay all
the time I would not stay if
they would give me all Ireland
I had one letter from Lizzie
and several papers. She was so
lonesome & busy house cleaning
and waiting for the paper hangers
I expect a letter from her every
day. We are going to Ballynahinch
tomorrow to my cousins Margrett
[Margaret?] is just saying be sure
and only stay a few days. We were not
to the 12th but I'm sure they
had a good time They dont
celebrate it very much just here
Annie I wonder if Mr & Mrs Reid
was there & Anna Bell. Annie
I am so glad Tommy has not
forgot you. John will hurry
him. Poor Willie he will be
discouraged. It seams [seems?] queer
that there is no word from
Mrs Moore. Yes Annie you might
well say how is my train how
would Lizzies train the silk one
do here. We will have a great
talk about things when we get
home. I had a letter from Joe
the steward. The week after we
came he said the [they?] laid 10 days
in Glasgow and they got the
second cabin overhauled so
he said we would not know
it dont you think it had room
for improvements He hoped we
were all enjoying ourselves
He said he would keep us a
good room. I wrote back saying
to be sure & give us plenty of
time to get to the boat for we
might not be in Newcastle
when he would write. He said
on or about the 20th of Sept.
she would be going back
Annie would you please ask
that agent that is close for a
list of the passages. There are
several people wanted to know
the sterege [steerage?] passage and I
could not tell them I said
I would ask a friend to send
me one if it would be convenient
for you. There are so many taken
on with us. They dont know how
they can stay behind. They [the?]
girls are all taken on with James You
know he dont care worth a cent
Have you heard from Pontiac
yet. I wrote to them just now. I got a
letter from John. He was not at the 12th
He could not get. But he got a grand
white horse and made the master ride him
ahead Its mane & tale [tail?] touched the
ground it was tied up with orange and blue
ribbons and two large plumes on each side of
its head He said it looked just like King Wm
[William?] crossing the Boyne He said Lizzie
was there; there were 3,000 went to P.[Port?]
Huron & a 1,000 had to get another boat to go
up There were 3,000 from Bay City & 100 stand
(sic) of coulors [colours?] The canadians
never seen the like before. He said Bishop
Foleys people were all all (sic) dead I must
draw to a close hoping you are all well & your
Mother write soon a long letter from your
friend Mary c/o
