| Transcript | 17th of Ireland Detroit th 17 March 1892 Miss Weir Dear friend I just now received your letter We are all very well Also glad to hear you were all pretty well I just sent a letter to Miss H. Well Miss Weir I must tell you just what I think. I would go home & see my mother The best man ever steped [stepped?] could not keep me here. If my mother was alive & at home like yours your sister can easily get some one to take care of her when she is sick. I would not like to turn you against your sister or friend A mothers love excells [excels?] all I have had just as good chances to go places. I've had the best of chances of homes of my own. But would not leave my father & mother what would they have done. I kept the 5th Commandment well Thats why I say before sister or friend go and see your mother Well Miss Weir James just came in he says we will have a grand time going. It surely will do us a great deal of good. well we are not going before the 25th of May or the 4th of June when it will be nice weather. James had me to go down to the Steamships office and enquire about the passages. We want to go second cabin the White star line second cabin is 45 dols from New York to Liverpool she stops at Queenstown She sails every wensday [wednesday?] out of New York I mean that line white star And leaves Liverpool every wedensday [wednesday?] The fare to New York from Detroit is 13 dols 50/100 The agent said Second cabin is just like a first class hotel in the city [including?] accomadation [accomodation?] Your linens In your room are changed twice a week. I am going down again. They are agents for all the lines I want to enquire about all the lines & will let you know. Lizzie said she thought when you's [you?] were not in perhaps you's [you?] were not going to take the vacation untill [until?] we were going. Lizzie & Gelean [Gillian?] says well what a time Miss Harrison & her will have getting us started What a time James & us has planing [planning?] Gelean [Gillian?] says will Miss Harrison not be in untill [until?] that I think you's [you?] will have to come in for a day or Gelean [Gillian?] will die if she dont come in. Am I going to go like a rich old maid I am [torn] [-ing?] old maid but not very [torn] [rich?] I wish we could borrow some grandeur of some one I would like to go out but I cant afford it. it costs so much for our trip. Lizzie says if you ever went to Cal [California?] you would never get to see your mother. We would not come back untill [until?] Septr. [September?] or before you talk to Dr. Morse like I used to do & Miss Harrison we thought what ever he would say sure: Dr. Burr it would be at right when I wanted to go to Detroit I will send the old country papers to you to read one at a time Lizzie has been reading a story the Baranets [Baronets?] bride she had them saved for you The Princes death is in them too. They are old but it is new news to you I would like to see the building now What is the name of your home in Ireland, is the Dr back yet where does his mother live is she better write soon and tell us all the news. How is Miss Harrison & how is every one I must draw to a close hoping to hear or see you soon I remain as ever your friend Mary James says what a time he will have with us |
