| Transcript | 1) 2112 St Paul St. Baltimore, Maryland, N. St. Aug 9 1908 Well Well Well!!! And what is the mater now? If my recollection be not proving false, it has been months and months since I answered your last letter and acknowledged the receipt of your little picture of yourself, but not one line in reply have I gotten. I do not know if it be fortunate or unfortunate, but I always write just - the way I happen to be feeling at the time, and as it has been so long since I last wrote to you I do not remember first what sort of a letter I did write any further than that it was quite a long one. - I fear forever, that it could not have been to your liking & am sorry for I have always enjoyed hearing from you all very much - I wonder will you think it too much trouble to answer this one real soon and [to?] tell me (if you can) what relation was John Stewart (eldest son of John Stewart of Ballymarren or Ballymorren)and who died Aug 13 1642 & was buried in the old Killyleagh Church Yard with 7 other children of John Stewart of Ballymarren or Ballymorran - to James Stewart who was born April 27 1698 & married Jennet Shaw Feb 18, 1724? This James Stewart was the father of John Stewart born Feb 13, 1727 who married Jane Carr & died Jan 28 1810 & was buried in the new Killyleagh Church Yard. He was, John who mar.[married?] J. Carr you know, the father of Mary Stewart (my great = grandmother) and of John Carr Stewart (your great grandfather) Do you happen to know who was the wife of this man I mentioned first - John eldest son of John of Ballymarren or Ballymorran - and of this mother who was of course the wife of John Stewart of Ballymorran or Ballymarren? The records you sent me of these old gravestones & the copies of he register of births & marriages & kept by the Session Clerk George Irvine, spell that place Ballymarren in one place & Ballymorran in another, so I do not know which is correct as I am not familiar with the various places over in your beautiful "Emerald" Island". I am anxious to trace the family back and the more I can find out for myself the better it will be and the less expensive it will be for me. I suppose you know already in fact have known all along, that your family on you mother's side dates back to first king of Scotland, crowned A.D. 854 & Known as Kenneth 11. He conquered the picts & was crowned "king of Scotland" [?] [?] Nora |
