Dear Mother
I hope you
will excuse me for not writing
sooner hoping this will find you
all in good health as it leaves
us at present thank God.
We have had a very cold spring
the ice is on the side walls
yet, they rebuild on the
Schr [Schooner?] is completed I am fiting [fitting?]
her out. I will be [lending?]
her sails the latter part of
this week.
Samuel paterson Came in
to Chicago this morning
he is going Cook with me
his old dad is just the
same
Mrs [Shautliff?]
and Husband is well
I hope you know who that is
[Sam?] sister Kate's name.
I was at as Masqerade [Masquerade?] Ball
in March, Uncle William was
there Dressed as a China woman
I was an old Irish man
with a black eye and a
screwed up mouth, Mamie
was Hearts of [Knights?]
there was about fifty Couple
Uncle william had bad luck
this spring, he got his head
hurt by a strap breaking.
I have been very lucky
I have got the top masts
all in & the job boom that is
the stick in front it is 52 feet
out her yard is 60 feet this is
Bolderdoish [Balderdash?] for you
if it was corn or wheat
you would understand
it better
I was at the party a party the other
night I saw ireland in the
face the miss McCullaghs
of the castle Mrs demster of
Ballycranmoor [Ballycran More?] Mr Tenant [Tennant?]
of Greabby [Greyabbey?] Mrs Irvin
of Carradore [Carrowdore?] there was
more that I did not know,
Uncle Sam's boat is loaded
for Georgian Bay Canada. Uncle
William's is for Oswego [U.S.?]
Hugh Glenn's is for Kingston Canada
