| Transcript | Chicago June 26th. 875 [1875?] Dear Mother I write you these fiew [few?] lines to let you know that we are all well they [the?] children had the cold but they are better we have had a poor spring I saw Kelley that came out from the old country. he said, that you were all well Uncil [Uncle?] Nicholas is back from Oswego with the Frankcrawford and is going ahead strong we have had fine weather this spring Uncil [Uncle?] William is comming [coming?] home this fall for a wife he hopes you [torn] will have one picked [torn] for him that he will [torn] nothing to do [torn] and give you [torn] the way Lawson done with my one I did not think she would a done that, it cannot be helped, but all I can say I lost my darlin [darling?] with the courtin [courting?] to [too?] slow they [the?] next one that I spark will not have that to say I will put marrage [marriage?] to her at once and have done with it, you see that they [the?] girls is puting [putting?] me astray which they put their arms about my neck and kiss me but I will try and not let them do it.
