We arrived here all well
on Friday night We had a pleasant
passage out except 2 days of heavy
wether [weather?] William was pretty sick
for the the [sic] first week out but after
that he was all right he thinks this is
rather a cold country I introduced him
to shoveling snow of [off?] the Schooner
the [they?] have had a terror of a winter
here with frost & snow and there
is no water to be seen in lake
Michigan as farr [far?] as the eye can
see it is a solid sheet of ice
i found the wife and family
all well brother William has
been ailing with a sore throat
but he is got over it now
Nick and the family are all well
Johny [Johnny?] is still living yet but is
wasting away slowly Nick has
bought the Schooner, Fraink [Frank?]
Crawford buisness [business?] looks rather
dull at present but he has got
a Tread [trade?] for all the Schooners
except the Ada Medora your Son
went up to Bella yesterday evening
and he did not come down last
night So i thought i would write
you theese [these?] few linds [lines?] this morning
that you would know that we
were home, Sarah and I Joines [Joins?]
in Sending our cind [kind?] love to you
