Dear Brother
We received your
letter and photo : on Friday
morning : it s not a bad one
at all for to be done for so little
some say you are thinner
than you were when you left
and I think you look like that
too;; [Mc Creinor?] said you were
getting nicer every day every
one has their own opinion but
you look pretty well no matter
what they say I m glad you
sent it its always another
in the album.
All the hay and corn
is rid [brought?] in for another year
it was got in pretty safe this
year. not near as bad harvest
as last. some people are at the
potatoes and our men are on the
road constant. The surveyor
was round on the 1st and the
stones was not ready for him
so they got a summons to attend
at Gortin. and they were fined in
15 and he gave them to the first
next month to have all done he
had four others summoned as well
and they got the same he gets
this money himself for having
to come twice so he is well paid
for his day They have a notion
of getting rid of it at March
for they can t please him if
they can manage it they will
have nothing more to do with it
Mr and Mrs Stein was up the
road yesterday she was talking
to William about the singing
she wants him up again Sunday
and raise it the same as usual
she said there was things told
that Mr Stein never said and
he heard a lot that she did not
believe to be true she said she
had tried to make a change on
him since she came but it was
all no use he is always the same
and has a very bad temper she
is anxious for William to go up
and not to be too stiff.
Sandy made a total failure
on Sunday he spoiled two and
the last one Miss Dunbar had
to carry it on so they may try
some one else for a while again
There was a meeting of
Orangemen here on the 1st
there was two more initiated
Bob M Kernan and Andy J [Campbell?]
so this leaves the band all in
except three Daniel Henry has
sent in his resignation so isn t
it a pity that they will lose him
Joe Gilkison has applied
for his certificate to join the
Strabane Lodge as he could not
attend here this is all the news
I can give you concerning this
We had a letter from Lizzie hay
they are all well they got a letter from
Tommy when he was about half
way over it was twelve days coming
and he wrote on the 24th so they are
pretty near over now
We are all well at present
I suppose by this time you have
Willie John (sic) nice letter he is at
school now so he will learn some
more I think it is time you were
writing to Willie Gilkison Good Bye
