Feby [February?] 4/96. Dear cousin, I am almost ashamed to write after waiting so long, but as Jim was writing I knew you would hear of their safe return and all the news. We have been wanting father to write but it seems impossible to get him at it. We were surprised and pleased to receive your nice presents. One of the first things I asked mother was if she brought some Irish linen tablecloths and she said No . I was disappointed. The next day Jim brought her out the one you sent. Annie's shawl was beautiful - so soft and warm. We were glad to hear that uncle was better again. Mother is so much better this winter than she was last. Her visit did her a great deal of good. Father has had a cold for some time - not enough to make him really sick, but he does not get rid of it. Jim was home from Friday to Monday; he can get home every week if he likes, that is he is near enough to come. He can either walk or come on the train. He has a nice boarding -place - the same place I boarded when I attended High School. Father is going to write so I will quit Cassie |
