Dear cousin Bella.
Belle is sending you and William
a trifle and wished me to write a
note to send along; she has painted
a hat band for William, I do not
know if they use them over there
but nearly all the gentlemen here have
them in their hats. As she was
sending that to William she thought
she would send you a card, I only
wish it were nicer, and that we
had something to send you all,
but we have not just now.
James wrote you the other night,
suppose he told you that I am
going to college again after Christmas
There was something he forgot to tell
you, or rather to
tell Uncle. we had
a Mr Ballantyne from Philadelphia
to see us last September he is a

full cousin of Father's and uncles.
Jim was saying yesterday he had
intended to tell you in every letter
since but always forgot so I
thought I would tell you about
it. I will not give any particulars
of his visit as Father will be
better able to do that when he writes.
We all join in sending our love,
and may you all have a merry
Xmas and a happy happy New Year.
Ever your loving cousin
Cassie Smyth
