Dear Brother
Once more I take the
pleasure of writing to you to
let you know how I am getting
along I am still in gortin
working away at the Carpenter
business we have been out at
Miss Black Cappagh working but
we are done with it uncle and I
was over working at Castledamph
N S [National School?] yesterday
we made three new windows for
the front of the School and put
on a new door I like the trade
very well for so far I made a
churn-head for Willie Gilkison.

[Page 2]
I suppose they were telling
you about Matthew Smyth I think
it was as good as the night you
had to leap the gate/ alice she
ran after him with the bisum she
is in a pitiful condition this
long time no matter where he goes
the people are all down on him.
Now I must hurry up with this &
get ready for meeting as it is working
round to that Time we will have a
preaching at plumbridge this evening
at six o'clock. The Rev C M Monteith
will give us a few words he was
preaching Thursday fournight [fortnight?]
too.

One day I stayed at home It
was nearly as well done as he would do
it himself So thats the first thing I
made at home It wont be very long to
the twelfth July now the band hasned
[has not?] started practicing yet I was
out last night with the brass drum she
sounds pretty good if James Barker Dont
turn up at the twelfth we will be in
big need of a drummer as they are very
scarce The Plum [Plumbridge?] band was
out on Friday night I think they heard
the [drums?] a good piece [piece?]
up the water
