[Letter 1] [Page 1] Castledamph May 10th 94 My Dear James Once more I take the pleasure of writting [writing?] to you to let you know that we are all well at present - Thank God for all his goodness to us all - Three years is But a short time Cince [since?] you left and oh what changes has (sic) taken place in every way - when you take a look back you have to wonder But look farder [farther?] back your Uncle and Aunt is (sic) now 31 years in Canada many changes has taken place cince [since?] [Page 2] that time short as its [it?] seems to be - and yet we are speared [spared?] in helth [health?] thank God for all his goodness to us all. - Dear James we received your letter to day [today?] I hope you will be nothing The worse of the cold or what seems to be a cold [like?] take good care of your helth [health?] I supose [suppose?] Bella told you all Tomy [Tommy?] challinged [challenged?] [Alex?] on the 19th But it never was named on the 20th Knox mixed up the 19th and 20 [20th?] together and it was hard to understand his oath I never heard two could swear a wrightfalsehood [right falsehood?] But But (sic) the two - William [swore?] that the [there?] were (sic) not one word of [Page 3] truth in all thy [they?] swore nor neither the [there?] were (sic) - the oath he took in Reids [Reid s] case was tremendious [tremendous?] there [their?] tongues is (sic) loose on the hinges well we have (sic) hill [wired?] along the Bottom - and we are going to wire Jamys [Jamey s] Bank nixt [next?] week Elkin had to wire all his from the Bridge up so the [there?] will be sharp times along The Burn.
