Dear Martha
Knowing that
you Contemplate a visit to
Scotland about Xmas I
have much pleasure in
forwarding the enclosed towards
your expenditure, also the
gold dollar which you desired,
the sum is small & not as
much as you deserve. You must not mention
your receiving such to any one. I suppose
you hear quite often from
Mary so that I can give you
no additional news which would interest
you much or that you do
not know. It is nice to have
someone to save you from
writing. Your Father & I are
of one opinion on that point
Mrs Breeze & children are all
well. Willie is nearly
as tall as I am and has
been shaving for
almost a year all
are growing in proportion and
to be in Company I am
increasing myself, Mary
follows suit and is almost
as neat a figure as myself
and then for our baby it
beats yours [h?]ollow - Jas [James?]
was quite well when last
heard from, I was much
pleased to hear that Bessy
had improved so much &
that she had got rid of the
cough - she has never answd [answered?]
my letter I hope you have been
taking the medicine I ordd [ordered?]
for you & that it has added
a brighter colour to your
face & [Jims?], say to your
father or Tommy to write
& let me know about the
McKee's farm will they be
able to hold it? do you
suppose it could be procured
from them by giving them the
small house & so much a
year, let this be considered
& inform me - I will expect
you to write on receipt & give me
all news about farmer Crops
& how each member of the family
is & how ma[n?]y admirers you have
&c &c &c. your mother I trust
has recovered her usual health
Love & kind remembrance to
all, excuse this [hurried?] scrawl
Your affectionate uncle
C. K. Breeze
I could not obtain a new dollar
in gold at present
