Tyrone, Ireland POSTAGE STAMP SOUTH WOODSLEE [-- --?] 03 ONT Back of envelope POSTMARK NEWTOWNSTEWART AM 10 0 MR 27 03 South Woodslee March 14 1903 Dear People All, A few more lines today when I have nothing to do. As I told you in my last letter that I had got vaccinated on account of the scare of small pox. I have not been to school this last week as my arm was very sore especially yesterday & I had a headache and it seemed to make me sick I went up to Essex yesterday, bad as I was, I had to go and pack my box as they [the?] people where we stayed are moving away so I had to go up & see about another place & get my clothes all packed. Today I don't feel so bad my head is better but my arm is sore yet & all swollen. It is almost as bad as the smallpox. Well as regards the smallpox there are two more cases has (sic) broke out in Essex [so?] it is getting dangerous but the doctors say that there is no cause for alarm I am going to school Monday again if I am better I am going to send you the Essex Free Press as it gives an a/c [account?] of our exams I got 90% out of 100 on [in?] Book-keeping and in the 2nd Form French I got 41% but I was not there for the French everyday so that is why I came down so low still there were many others whose names are omitted from the paper where [were?] below me I may send you the question [questions?] of both exams to let you see what you think of them. How is [are?] all the people around there I suppose they are very busy ploughing and sewing [&?] etc. The people here have not done any work yet as everything is wet and the roads are awful if you would see how the horses get through everyone is afraid of sticking in them Well I have been waiting for a letter these last few days but I have'nt got any yet. I am anxious to know if our friends have set sail yet as I had a great dream the other night concerning one of those who are likely to do such. The former paragraph can only be translated by Liza so the rest need not read it. How is Bella & the husband & family progressing. I suppose under the circumstances they frequent the [interior?] of the house a little more than usual. I hope Wm [William?] Houston gets better but I suppose three score & ten years he has almost summed up. Is Alex McClelland in the same place yet? no word of him getting married. I did'nt hear of very many parties there this winter or as we used to say "sprees". I don't think there was ever as many as was the year that there was one in McClelland's, Campbells, Gilkies, & our house. that was about winter was before or afore (sic) It would be hard to gather up the same ones again. I think I will stop now & finish this letter tomorrow, Sunday. Sunday 6 o'clock Now I must hurry & get this finished before church time. As I want to post it on my way then I forgot to tell you I think that Mrs Myers the Methodist Minister's wife here is dead died this day three weeks leaving 5 children the oldest 14 & the youngest two years old & also Mr Myers I was to church this morning Uncle & I that was the first time I heard him preach since He is very sorry as this is his second wife. His first wife left two but the [they?] are grown up boys now & at college. Cass & Fred & the [5?] children were down today. This is the first time for Cass to be down this two months. The baby is growing. [Anny?] came home from Leamington on Friday night she is not very well with a cold Bell [Belle?] says to tell Liza that she is going to send her more paper. with good reading & if you like them she will send some more of them I was invited out to dinner today in Woodslee but I did not go to a Mr [Puluba?] a hardware & furniture storekeepers (sic). I would have liked to go only I wanted to be home for other reasons. I hope all are well & write soon to give an account of all that happens, large or small. Good Bye M.
