Dear People,
As this is Easter Sunday
I thought I would write you a
few lines to let you know
how we are all doing. I came
down here on Thursday night just
the night school closed. Jim came
down last night. None of us has got
to Church today as it stormed last
night thunder & lightning and rain
and so the river is over the road
nearly all the way. [Now?] not so

[Page 2]
so bad now as it was in the morning
Cass & Fred & the young ones started
to come down here after dinner so
when they get about half way they
were afraid to go through the water
so they got out & left the buggy at
the fence & came through the
fields walking so Fred has just
gone back now for the buggy.
We may go out to Church tonight
I think it will not be very muddy
Annie and the young ones came out
Thursday. So we are all here again
Well that wedding is all over it
was pretty good I will send you
a cutting from the paper with the
account in it. so I will not need
to write it to you.
Well now I am sorry if John
had anything to do with that

[Page 3]
song. I think he might had better
sense than to do it on them but
I suppose he didn’t - care as long
as he pleased the other, what
did it say all about them? Jim
brought me a letter from Liza
yesterday I would be glad to get a
letter from those folks but I don’t
expect they will write now I suppose
they might have at that time when
they had their notion in their head.
I’m afraid I wont' get over
for the christening. this year if
it is that soon I would like
to go but I’m not satisfied
with being out here so there
is no use in me going & then
wanting to come back again
so I don’t think I had
better go this year I may

though I would be through
school time enough to get there
for the twelfth. School stops
the 24th June, If I don’t go
home I will go down to
St Thomas. I don’t know
what to start at after holidays
I shall have to consider that
before long I don’t want to go
to school here any longer for
it would have to go for 3 or four
years before I could make
anything out of it. So I think
I hadn’t better go any longer
than this year.
I never knew till this last
letter that John had a case against
the company I was wondering if he
wouldn’t When is he going back to
work or is he going at all. I suppose
he has got

[Page 5]
too much attraction across
the river,.
I must write to Bella
some day next week I see
they are raising [enough?]
young pigs anyway.
School does not open again
till the 20th so I am making
the best of my holidays I am
making a few shirt waists
to wear at school for my
first trial Yesterday [Friday?]
I made a pair of pants
& an underwaist
I can make pretty
well now when one has to do
it they will do it I dont'
know how I will do with
my waists it will be my
first trial but if I spoil
it wont be a great loss
anyway as the stuff isn’t
very expensive thats why I
am [trying?] on them first
I suppose Bella has'nt
made anything yet for herself
I guess she has got enough
to keep her busy. I think
she should apply for
another girl. I would
like to see my little
nephew [&?] niece whichever
but I suppose I'll have to
have patience Good Bye MS..
[Mary Smyth?]

[Written upside down at top of page 1]

Jim & Annie & I are going
to Church tonight so I want
to post this I have eaten
5 eggs today [&?] has [sic]
not got my supper yet.
How many did W J [Willie John?]
Eat? I suppose half a dozen.

[Written upside down on Page 5]
Annie is for moving shortly
to St. Thomas
