I see by your letter that you are still busy at work. Well I am surprised to hear of you being out tying the corn I think you are foolish where there are five men I suppose if there were ten of them it would be the same thing. Now I think you two has [sic] got enough inside work to do alone [sic] going outside Well now as regards Tilda [Matilda?] I suppose she may be contrary but I used to wonder at Jim scolding about this falling out one day and great [friendly with?] the next. You don’t seem to notice till you are away and hear about it, Not long ago it was an outfall [falling-out?] with Joe [Page 2] Gilkinson’s folk’s now that is all over and then it is Tilda [Matilda?] I think the people over there get too great [friendly?] and then the [they?] get as far out. I think as Jim says that we are gradually going down over there when we are associating with Joe Gilkinson’s Nobles McKelvey’s & such like as Jim says he remembers the time when we looked down on those people all but it seems now that there is none others around there to associate with, however, if there were fewer of those outfalls [fallouts?] and less said at such times it would be better for all parties concerned. I suppose she will get over that in a few days if you would never notice her, I wrote to her a few days [Page 3] ago and told her that I sent the photo. Well I see that McKernan’s folks are having their own bother. I feel sorry for Bob. Is there many of the other boys still comes around? How is Jamey Mc & Bob? Does Andy J. or Andy Mc come around atall [at all?], I would like to see them all. Tell them that I was inquiring as to their whereabouts and that I still remember them as dear old friends, Next time You see them. I had a letter from Bella also today. I see she has got the photo alright. I will write [sic] her in a few weeks. I have been unable to go to school these last three days with an ulcerated tooth my face [Page 4] was all swollen so therefore I couldn’t go but I will be alright by Monday. This is Friday night the boys are gone to bed. So Annie and I are all alone, Jim was down here from Wednesday till Sunday of last week. I took him around quite a bit of the city. Winter seems to be approaching nearer and nearer, To day [Today?] is quite cool & comfortable with our winter coats. I got a new suit brown I may send you a piece of the cloth also they [the?] pattern of the Style it is made. Jim thought it was very nice some- thing [something?] unusual for his remarks as he generally looks for faults in everything I have or do. [Page 5] I think I told you that I was taking violin lessons. My teacher said if I kept on taking [sic] for a few years that I would become a splendid player. She said it was too bad that I did not take [sic] when I was younger. These three days that I have been home from school I have practiced the most part of the time, I like it better than the piano. Does John play much? It is a wonder but Willie John hasn’t tried it before this. Is J.C, [John Charles?] going to stay home all the time now or what does he intend to do? I am invited to an “At Home” a party You might call it, at a Mrs Campbell’s on Wednesday 28th. It is in honour of a Miss Cameron a great musician, leader of the choir previous to her leaving here [Page 6] exchanging for a husband Some distance from here, Each one invited is supposed to give her a handerchief [handkerchief?]. It is called a “Handkerchief Shower” She is about as big everyway as I am Jim met her while down he [here?] and was quite fascinated by her She is a splendid singer also piano player. Too bad that she is for leaving us but I suppose she is getting something better at least in her estimation. I am still getting along pretty well at school when I’m there, I don’t know what I’m going to make out of myself yet I appreciate all advices as to what course to pursue for the good of myself and all concerned as to my welfare I must close now as Annie wants me to go to bed GoodBye [Goodbye?] M.
