Dear Father
I received
your letter on Monday 22nd
and I am glad to hear
that you are all well
you wanted to know how
I got along in the train
I had no bed in it
I sleeped [slept?] the most of the
nights and some in the
day time for I was tired
I did not sleep much
on Sunday night in the
ship we landed at quebec
on the grand trunk side
and then we got on a
tender and crossed to
the C P R side I had
no trouble at any time
I was first off and had
my Railway ticket got
my box was not opened
till I came to Windsor
I opened it and he put
his hand down at one
corner of it and that
was all evar [ever?] done I
bought some bread at
quebec [sic] and that was
all the meat I took
till I came hear [here?] except
some apples that I
bought along the way
I was down on Detroit
today along with Sarah
and Annie and Cassie
Sarah and me got our
likeness taken but it
will be a a month yet
before you will get it
It cost us 10s a piece
get yours all taken

as soon as it is convenient
for you all Cassie has only
come home on Monday
night from Collage [college?]
Yous [you] wanted to know
how many cattle horses
and sheep uncle had
He has five horses 8
milk cows 6 heifers 7
calves 17 sheep the
sheep are much the
same as your big bred
ones like sheep are not
a very good price then
now I told yous [you?] before
I left that they were
as good a price then
as they would be if had
a good bed on the ship
both bed and meat was
as good as you could
get but I had not much

pleasure for the first two
or three days with either
bed or meat when you
write again tell me
who were angry because
I did not go to see them
And thell them who ever
they are. That I will go
to see them when I go
back whatever time
that may be mother thinks
I should be failed now
I am not as heavy now
as I was in Spring I am
10 stone 12 lbs yes but I was not
that when I came out here
we did not sow any of
the corn this year we sowed
some off the whin seed
in a little box they
are about an inch high
