One is seen below. The other two have been processed separately and may be found by date 2 April 1904 and 25 November 1902] Essex Oct 1 02 Dear People Rec [received?] your letter some time ago and also one from Bella & one from John so that I owe you all a letter now but I will make this one do for all to the next week. I am sending you my photo along with Miss Mabel Wigle I think it is very good of us I will send one to Bella but not to next week I have a thought of sending one of them to Tillie MacCullagh Well I am still busy studying Thursday first is Thanksgiving Day so we are getting a holiday or two we are getting Friday next [line from bottom of page 4] [page 2] They thought it was not worth while to go back on Friday so they had school yesterday Saturday on that account so this week was an extra busy one. There was a football game played here yesterday evg [evening?] but I could not go as I had my music lesson to take after I got home from school One of our teachers in H [High?] School is for [sic] leaving on Wednesday & all of us are sorry for we may not get so good a one. There is [sic] only three teachers now but they have advertised for two more so then we will have four all the more work for us. We have a great time drilling 3 times a week something like what WJ [Willie John?] [page 3] used to be at but I don’t think they are as obedient to the teachers as they are there. There are such a lot of [big?] girls here that it is hard to do anything with them they think they know all about it but sometimes he calls them down. He is the one that is leaving so we may get a worse one These are the first gentlemen teachers I have ever had. I have got another new waist I had not any to wear with my new suit so I got a red with a stripe I enclose a piece that is my linen dress that I got my picture taken in ribbon velvet run [through?] over lace the yoke is made out of I am in a hurry to get the photos of Bella’s I hope [page 4] they will be good. as good as the original anyway if not better. Jim gave me $15 [of?] out last month [sic] pay for to [sic] pay all my expenses & I tell you I hav’nt [haven’t?] any to spare I don’t know what he is going to do if he has to give up the school at Xmas I suppose go out & ditch. He borrowed money last year to go home & has not it paid up yet. So he is saving all he can now to get it paid up. This month he had only 15c left out of his month’s pay $34 after paying all his expenses & debts & has some to pay yet I think he will be a little more savy after this. I suppose all the crops are nearly in I suppose you are digging the potatoes by now Do you remember the year I dug I would’nt [wouldn’t?] want to do it now I am still getting heavier but they say I don’t look any bigger but get thinner looking I don’t know how it is Give all that is said about me in that picture Good bye [Written upside down at top of page 1] I have nothing more to say so I will write to Bella next week & give her the latest news Hoping you are all well.
