Coll Inst St Thomas, Box 1103.
Dec 2nd 1903

Dear Brother,
Received your letter yesterday or
rather the day before. I intended to write
yesterday but neglected somehow. Well I am
spending a lot of money this last while and
still has [sic] not got all I want, With
this last twenty dollars I got a hat pretty
neat $5 and a fur at $15 I only intended to
get one at $10 and have the other $5 for
Miss Risdon but I could not get any to suit
me at $10 so I had to get one at $15 so that
leaves me without again. But Miss Risdon will
wait till next pay day if that will be before
I go up for Xmas holidays.

I was out to a social (Westminster Guild)
of Knox church on Monday night we had a
very nice time there and quite a crowd. I
saw Miss Lottie Scott also heard her sing.
I don't think she is anything like the [Greens?]
or [Laings?] either in looks or in style. She
is quite a nice singer she sang "Comin
through the rye" I see Ethel Laing's picture
hanging up in Scotts' photograph gallery. I
suppose she got it taken in the summer time
when she was down.

I see you are having your time [pretty?] well
taken up with debates. I have not been to the
Westminster Guild in [Alma?] Church yet. I
promised to go Monday night but went to the
other one.

I must close now as our period is up I am
writing this in school
Goodbye
M. [Mary?] Smyth
