| Transcript | Sth [South?] Woodslee July 5th 1904 Dear Sister:- Once more I write you a few lines to let you know I am and where I am. I am thinking that you will still be expecting me to get there for the twelfth but I wont be there. I intended to write before this so as it would get there but it has been forgotten, only seven more days. There is a celebration in Windsor that day so I intend to go. If I had gone home when I intended I would have been out on the boundless ocean by this time. Well to tell you of what I've been doing since I last wrote would would (sic) occupy more space than I have time to fill at present I think I told you of the [-------?] that was going to be next door Friday after I wrote, [well?] I went to Essex [instead ?] and attended the recetal [recital?] it was fine I saw more swell dresses there than I would have seen in [Woodslee?] I stopped in Essex until Saturday evening. I intended to stay over until Monday but I didn't. [Jan?] is through school since Thursday but he has never came down here yet he don't like to work,. I think that is the reason. Belle & I and the Allison family [(Chas sisters',)?] went to Detroit Friday the 1st July. It was a public holiday so we got up for half fare. We took lunch and spent most part of the day on a park. Bell stayed up until Saturday night & I came home & kept house Saturday Mrs. [Fair?] & Mrs. Moulton kept house Friday & Mrs. Moulton went up Friday night to Detroit & stopped over Saturday. Mrs [Fair?] she had to stay down at her Mr. [Fairs'?] all day saturday so I had to do all the work here and I tell you I was [pretty ?] busy. Annie nor the boys is not up yet but I think they are coming tomorrow. One of Charles sisters is going to get married the 12th July so I expect they are all coming up for that: she is the one that kept the post office so she has [resigned?] it has changed hands though few [sorry?], (sic) as she was [accused?] of opening letters, Amelia is her name, [Jan] & she used to be great friends. She is to be married at 9 o'clock in the morning & go off on the noon train to her new home about 200 mls. from here, but that [doesn't?] seem far in this country. They are only going to have [their ?] [near?] relatives at the wedding so I'm not included & I'm glad I'm not on that particular day anyway. Our company are all away [today?] somewhere so we are alone. They have been here four weeks today [&?] I can't say when they are going to take their departure yet. They are not here all the time but it is their main place they have their truck here so that they can be only away a few days at a time I think Mrs. Fair wont be back until Thursday she went away last night & Mrs. Moulton is staying down at Mrs. Fair's as Mrs. Fair fell saturday & hurt herself badly she is very feeble about 70 yrs. old. We were down to see her Sunday & she got a pretty bad Fall her shoulder is all black. Bell & Cass are going to Essex today about their dresses so I will be housekeeper again, I tell them that they may make the best use of me for the next week for after that I'll be running all the time. I've [promised?] to go & spend a day at about two dozen different places [as ?] I don't know how I will [get?] as I would need to drive to most of them. [I've?] also got a lot of sewing today before I leave for home as I don't want to go home in rags (I mean underwear) I've got quite a bit of patching to do so but I'll leave some of it until I go home & perhaps I may get somebody else to do it. I had a letter from [Tilda?] the other day & she tells me that [Tillie McCullagh?] has got married in New York. That will be the going home she'll do this year anyway. I wonder if she [got ?] the fellow she followed out [Tilda ?] says [he?] is an Irishman, so its likely she caught him, How is Bella & the baby & Davie & all the rest of the family I suppose Madge will be a big girl by the time I see her. Willie John has never yet written to me. I don't suppose he will now. Well I suppose by this time you are making the usual preparations for the 12th. Wish I were there! I suppose all the people had it that I was going home for the 12th but they will be only disappointed, like myself. I would really like to be there that " morning as I always liked the morning about as well as any other part of the day. You can [give?] them my best wishes. All inquirers, I mean (if any) I expect a letter today or soon with all the news & the promises for the 12th I suppose you won't have any girls this year because they are going so far Tilda told me they were going to [Tullick] I think she said. So I suppose they will be late getting home. Well I see my old friend Bob was inquiring about me I thought he had forgotten all about me by this time. We may stir up fresh acquaintances when I get back. If it is worth it & if he may be satisfied. I don't know how I'm going to leave all my friends here it will be pretty hard, maybe never to return but they all tell me that I won't stay when I get back. A lot of them seems to think that I'm going back to get married [but?] they know more about it than I do. I think I've run short of anything more to [say?] at present, so [will ?] close this is near dinner time so Good Bye With love to all Mary.
